Morning Session (times typically from 08.30am till 12.30pm)

Abrasive Wheels – Practical and Theory

This one day course is very interactive and requires a lot of hands-on practical work. Both the theory and practical sessions are supported by the use of PowerPoint presentation and helpful hand-outs which attendees are encouraged to keep and use as a reference after the course has ended.


  • Responsibilities of employees under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Construction ( Design and Management) Regulations 2007
  • Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulations 1992
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998
  • Safety in the use of abrasive wheels HS(G) 17
  • Manual Handling Regulations 1992
  • Types and functions of abrasive wheels and cutting off discs
  • The appropriate selection, testing, mounting and storage of abrasive wheels and cutting off discs
  • The care, maintenance, transport and handling of abrasive wheels and cutting off discs

Afternoon Session (times typically from 13.00pm till 17.00pm)

Face Fit Testing

Everyone required to wear any type of Respiratory Protective Equipment in the workplace must be face fit tested to ensure correct fitting and protection against substances potentially hazardous to health. The HSE Information Document HSE 282/28 provides guidance on Face Fit Testing of Respiratory Protective Equipment. Qualified staff at Crestmoor Training can carry out Quantitative Face Fit Testing at our facility in Wincanton Somerset, or at your premises. We are able to supply a broad range of facemasks as necessary.d


At the end of the course you will know:

  • Legislation on RPE requirements
  • How to correctly place the mask on your face
  • That you are fitted to a mask (Min FFP3 to meet standards)
