Course Details

HSE guidance requires that a competent person regularly tests all portable electrical appliances and tools, following manufacturer recommendations, the risks associated with usage and the likelihood of damage.

Many organisations find it cost-effective to provide a staff member with the competence to carry out these tests. Our PAT course offers both theoretical information and practical training in the use of test equipment and the testing process for portable appliances.

Course Content:

– Legislation – Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

– PM32 and other relevant HSE Guidance Notes and Publications.

– Theory on possible faults; diagnoses; use of Portable Appliance Test Station.

– Test station calibration and recording of results.

– Practical application of test station.

– Summary and short practical assessment.

Theory assessment made up of multiple choice.

Accreditation

Crestmoor Training (in-house certification).

We deliver this training at our Centre in Wincanton, but we can also come to your venue to deliver the course if you can meet the off-site training requirements.
