Course Details

This Abrasive Wheels Handheld Cut-Off Saw course is designed to provide delegates with sufficient training to use a Handheld Petrol Cut-Off Saw competently and safely. Delegates will be able to identify, select, inspect, and fit all types of wheels on various Handheld Cut Off Saws and understand any legal application.

  • A basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in it, and their responsibilities as an operator.
  • A working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook and be familiar with other sources of information available, including relevant legislation.
  • Be able to locate and identify the machine’s major components and explain their functions.
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks following manufacturers and legislative requirements.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for petrol-driven cut-off saw.
  • Select a suitable type of blade relative to the work being undertaken.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area and set up a safety zone.
  • Prepare the machine for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Environmental considerations
  • Storage and transport of petrol-driven cut-off saw.
  • Carry out all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures.

Course Duration

Novice training – 1 Day (maximum of 6 candidates)
Refresher training – 1 Day (maximum of 6 candidates)

Things to know

Before attending this course, the delegate(s) must have an in-date face fit for their RPE Respiratory equipment. We deliver this training at our Centre in Wincanton, but we can also come to our client’s venue to deliver the course if you meet the off-site training requirements.

FAQ

Do you provide PPE for me to wear during my training?
All delegates must bring their own PPE with them on the day. We will send a complete list of requirements on your course joining instructions.
Who is the Accrediting Body?
NPORS. You will be awarded an NPORS (Traditional) Operator Card with a 5-year expiry.
Do I need to be face-fit tested for this course?
Yes, you will be required to provide us with a copy of your in-date Face Fit Test record. It's important to remember to bring your FFP3 dust mask, as it is a crucial part of the safety measures for this course.
How long is this course?
This course is a one-day training course.
