Course Details

Course Content:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry and the relevant legislation, the dangers of working in it, and their responsibilities as a Vehicle/Plant Machinery Marshal.
  • Have knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the vehicle/machine to be guided.
  • Have a good understanding of signs and signals, approved hand signals and different forms of communication.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for a Vehicle / Plant Machinery Marshal.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area, including Stop Blocks and Tipping areas, to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Set up an Exclusion zone for loading/unloading.
  • Guide machinery in a forward and reverse direction, including confined spaces and “blind areas”, safely and efficiently.
  • Environmental considerations.
  • Carry out all end-of-shift and shut down and parking procedures.

Course Duration

Novice Course – 1 Day (Maximum 3 candidates).
Refresher – 1 Day (Maximum 3 candidates).
Experienced Worker – 1 Day (Maximum 6 candidates).

Assessment

Theory assessment made up of open questions and multiple choice.
Practical assessment.

Accreditation

NPORS (Traditional) Operator Card - 5 Year Expiry.
OR
Crestmoor Training (in-house operator card & certification).

Things to know

We deliver this training at our Centre in Wincanton, but we can also come to your venue to deliver the course if you can meet the off-site training requirements.

For the Experienced Workers Test (EWT), candidates must profile themselves with the instructor on their previous experiences using the piece of plant being tested.

How do I know if I am classed as experienced?
You should be able to clarify your level of experience by reading our course objectives. However, if you are still unsure, please get in touch with us to speak with one of our instructors.
Do you provide PPE for me to wear during my training?
Each delegate is responsible for bringing their own PPE on the day of the training. A comprehensive list of requirements will be included in your course joining instructions.
