Course Details

This course is designed for individuals actively involved in the movement of vehicles. It offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical lessons, focusing on health and safety and the safe operation of vehicles.

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry and the relevant legislation, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a vehicle marshal.
  • Have knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular vehicle/machine to be guided.
  • Have a good understanding of signs and signals, approved hand signals and different forms of communication.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for vehicle marshal duties.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area, including stop blocks and tipping areas.
  • Set up an exclusion zone for unloading.
  • Guide machinery in a forward and reverse direction, including confined spaces and “blind areas”, safely and efficiently.

  • Carry out all end-of-shift and shut down and parking procedures.

Course Duration

Novice training – 1 Day (maximum of 3)
Refresher training – 1 Day (maximum of 3)
Assessment only (EWT) – 1 Day (maximum of 6)

Assessment

Theory assessment is made up of open questions and multiple choice. Practical assessment.

NPORS (Traditional) Operator Card 5 Year Expiry
Crestmoor Training (In-House certification and card)

Things to know

We deliver this training at our Centre in Wincanton, but we can also come to your venue to deliver the course if you can meet the off-site training requirements. For the Experienced Worker Test (EWT), candidates must profile their previous experience with the instructor, specifically focusing on their use of the equipment they are being tested on.

Do you provide PPE for me to wear during my training?
For your safety and in line with our training standards, all delegates are required to bring their own PPE on the day. A comprehensive list of these requirements will be included in your course joining instructions.
Who is the Accrediting Body?
NPORS. You will be awarded an NPORS (Traditional) Operator Card with a 5-year Expiry. You can also choose the in-house route to gain a Crestmoor Training certificate and card.
